Ingredients
  

For the filling:

  • 6 –7 medium apples Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or mix, peeled and sliced
  • cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp light brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp ground nutmeg
  • 2 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp all-purpose flour

For the topping:

  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup old-fashioned rolled oats
  • ½ cup light brown sugar
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ cup 1 stick unsalted butter, melted

Instructions
 

  • 1️⃣ Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly butter or spray a 9x9-inch baking dish.
  • 2️⃣ In a large bowl, toss apples with sugars, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and flour until coated. Pour into baking dish.
  • 3️⃣ In another bowl, stir together flour, oats, brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Pour in melted butter and mix until crumbly.
  • 4️⃣ Sprinkle topping evenly over apples. Bake 40–45 minutes, until apples are tender and topping is golden.
  • 5️⃣ Let cool slightly, then serve warm — preferably with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Notes

  • You can leave the apple peels on if you like a little texture.
  • Swap half the apples for pears for a fun twist!
