Ingredients
  

Coffee Mixture:

  • cups strong brewed espresso cooled
  • 2 tablespoons coffee liqueur optional

Mascarpone Cream:

  • 16 oz mascarpone cheese room temperature
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • cups heavy whipping cream cold

Assembly:

  • 24 ladyfinger biscuits savoiardi
  • Unsweetened cocoa powder for dusting
  • Dark chocolate shavings optional

Instructions
 

  • 1️⃣ Brew strong espresso and let it cool to room temperature. Stir in coffee liqueur if using.
  • 2️⃣ In a large bowl, beat mascarpone, sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • 3️⃣ In a separate bowl, whip heavy cream until stiff peaks form.
  • 4️⃣ Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until smooth and fluffy.
  • 5️⃣ Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture—about 2 seconds per side—then layer them in a 9x9-inch dish.
  • 6️⃣ Spread half of the mascarpone cream evenly over the ladyfinger layer.
  • 7️⃣ Repeat the dipping and layering with the remaining ladyfingers and mascarpone cream.
  • 8️⃣ Cover and chill in the fridge for at least 6 hours (overnight is best).
  • 9️⃣ Before serving, dust the top generously with cocoa powder and garnish with dark chocolate shavings if desired.

Notes

  • Don’t over-soak the ladyfingers or they’ll get mushy.
  • Chill overnight for best flavor and texture.
  • Can be made up to 2 days in advance.
