Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 heaping tablespoons Nutella
  • Optional: chocolate chips or chopped hazelnuts for topping

Instructions

  • In a microwave-safe mug, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
  • Stir in the milk and vegetable oil until smooth.
  • Add the Nutella and gently swirl it into the batter (don’t overmix—it’s okay to leave some streaks!).
  • Microwave on high for 60-90 seconds, or until the cake has risen and is just set on top.
  • Let cool for 1 minute. Top with a scoop of ice cream or drizzle of extra Nutella if desired. Enjoy warm!

Notes

  • Adjust cook time depending on your microwave’s wattage.
  • Don’t overcook or it’ll turn rubbery.
