For the strawberries:

  • 1 1/2 pounds fresh strawberries hulled and sliced
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar adjust to taste

For the biscuits:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter cubed
  • 3/4 cup cold buttermilk plus more for brushing

For the whipped cream:

  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Notes

  • Don’t overwork biscuit dough or they’ll be tough.
  • Letting the strawberries sit longer makes a juicier syrup.
  • Chill your mixing bowl for fluffier whipped cream.
